General Rules

  1.  Officials shall have the authority to penalize, disqualify, and/or suspend a driver for any violation of these rules.  Supplementary rules may be issued for each event as necessary to amend, suspend, or modify existing rules.
  2.  Improper language or other demeaning actions towards any race official by anyone under his jurisdiction will not be tolerated.  The promoter reserves the right to refuse any entry application.
  3. No driver or crewmember may enter racing areas until he or she has signed all releases, and/or entry forms.  No persons shall sign for anyone other than himself/herself.  Any driver who fails to fully fill out and sign the required registration forms and releases shall be subject to disqualifications and will forfeit any prize money, contingency monies or points won in the race.
  4. All drivers must attend the driver’s meeting.  Failure to comply may result in disqualification.  Roll call may be made.
  5. Practice and course knowledge during events is the responsibility of every driver.  Practice must be done in a safe and sensible manner.  Irresponsible or reckless driving during practice is not permitted.  Every driver is required to report to a race official of any unsafe conditions or unmarked alternate routes discovered during practice whether they may be manmade, natural, or by the act of God.
  6. Drinking intoxicating beverages by driver is STRICTLY forbidden.  Also, the use of narcotics is forbidden.
  7. The driver assumes the responsibility for the actions of his designed crew at all times.
  8. Maximum speed in the pits is 5mph.
  9. No driver, pit crew, or sponsor shall have any claim of damages, expense, lawsuit, or otherwise against the property owner, the track promoter, the officials, agents, or employees arising from damages to any vehicle, personal injury to the driver, or monetary of any kind whatsoever.  The driver, pit crew members, and sponsors waive any claim they may have against the promoter, his officials, or the property owner when they voluntarily participate in any racing activities conducted under these rules.
  10.  These rules apply to ALL classes unless noted in supplementary regulations.  Unless the class requirements or safety regulations specifically state that a modification or optional equipment is permitted, it will not be allowed.  The specifications for safety equipment for the vehicle are to provide adequate protection to all drivers and spectators.  It is not intended to restrict the general or specific design of any vehicle or the development of competitive vehicle.  ALL drivers are encouraged to give full attention to safety requirements and specific class rules as to their legality.  Any deviation from the general rules at any event will be subject to approval of the tech officials in writing in advance of the event.  All drivers operating vehicles on the racecourse at anytime, including warm-ups and practice, MUST wear an approved helmet, protective clothing,  ( Fire suit required in race buggy and race truck classes, all other classes require long sleeves and long pants) safety belts and shoulder harness, wrist restraints or window net, and FULL eye protection.  All doors must be properly secured. Any driver competing without FULL protective gear, at ALL times, will result in 1 position lose per violation.
  11.  An UL approval dial type 2.5 lb ABC rated dry chemical extinguisher is required in ALL buggy and truck classes.  It must be fully charged with working gage, and secured (quick release type) within the reach of the driver during the racing.                                                             
  12. Safe steering systems with endplay are to be at a minimum.  All steering parts are to be wired, keyed, or with lock washers.                                  
  13. Functional brakes are required on at least two (2) wheels.
  14. There must be an ignition switch enabling the system to be turned on or off within the reach of the driver and plainly marked “IGNITION ON or OFF”.
  15. Rear and front mounted fuel cells must have a chassis, body cross member, or substance between it and the driver and be protected from ground obstacles.
  16. The design of the fuel filling system is to be such as to insure that there is no loss of fuel if the vehicle is on its side or inverted.  When fueling the system, fuel must be directed away from the engine exhaust system and the driver of the vehicle, by a splash system of any design that accomplishes that purpose.
  17. All vehicles must have a throttle incorporating two positive action return springs attached directly to the carburetor throttle arm.   A positive stop, over ride prevention system, must be used to keep linkage from passing over center and sticking in an open position.
  18. A heavy duty 4 or 5 point seatbelt and shoulder harness for the driver IS mandatory.  The material is to be made of nylon or Dacron.  It is suggested that the shoulder harness be behind the driver approximately four inches below the top of the shoulder.
  19.  All open areas on the vehicle should be covered with approved safety netting to keep body parts inside the vehicle during a rollover.  If safety nets are not used, wrist restraints WILL BE REQUIRED.        
  20. All seats must be securely fastened so as to allow no movement up or down, forward or backward, or from side to side.  Seat construction must be as to take the intended abuse of the type of racing.  A minimum of four (4) points is to be used in fastening any seats.                                                         
  21. It is recommended that a metal firewall separate the driver’s compartment from the engine and any fuel source.
  22. Belly pans or floorboards must cover the complete driver’s compartment.
  23. The following are the requirements for the use of numbers and other identifications:
  24.  Side numbers (one on each side of body)
  25.  Top plate (number visible on both sides)

Numbers should have a minimum height of 8 inches and a width of 1 inch.  Numbers and letters can be in combination.  A STRONG contrast between the numbers and their background is required.  (example-black numbers on a white background.)

26. No pressurized fuel vessels, including NOS.No oxygen bearing fuel, including alcohol is allowed (except in truck classes).

27. No refunds after practice, parade lap, or entering staging, whichever happens first.

28. All bumpers and side bars must be constructed so the ends are turned in, as to prevent damage to other competitors (Officials have final say)

FLAG SIGNALS

  1.  GREEN-Go, start of race, or continue racing.
  • YELLOW-Caution, slow down, DO NOT PASS until you have passed incident requiring the yellow flag.
  •  RED-STOP immediately and turn off engine.  There is an emergency on the track requiring rescue and emergency personnel.  The engine noise makes any

          communication between emergency crews difficult, if not impossible.

          If a roll over occurs, the person causing the red goes to the end of the lead 

          lap at the restart.

  •  GREEN AND WHITE CROSSED-Halfway mark of the race.
  • YELLOW/RED-Mandatory Caution-If you pull off or stop, you will go to the last position of the lap you are on.
  •  WHITE-One lap remaining.
  • BLACK-Leave the track immediately, pull into staging area and wait for instructions. Either you are in violation of a rule or something you are not aware of is wrong with your vehicle.
  • CHECKERED-Finish, the race is over.

COMPETITOR CONDUCT

  1.  Competitors are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous and sportsmanlike manner.  A violation of this rule will result in disqualification.  If disqualified, the competitor will forfeit all winnings and pints for that event.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE. 
  •  A competitor found guilty of rough driving will be placed one position or one lap behind the victim of the rough driving, whichever is the greater penalty, at the end of the race.                                                              
  •   The  penalty of passing under the yellow flag is forfeiture of one lap.  Making this a habit may result in stiffer penalties.                                   
  •  The penalty for missing jumps, cutting the course, cutting corners, etc. is forfeiture of one lap.
  •  A race vehicle MAY ONLY be worked on,  in the hot pits, by the driver or track personnel during the race.  Once a vehicle leaves the track, (and the hot pits,) and goes to their pits, the vehicle MAY NOT return to the race.

SUSPENSION SYSTEM, CHASSIS, AND RUNNING GEAR

  1.  All systems must be secured with either lock washers, lock nuts, safety wire, or carter pins.
  •  Nuts must grip full length of the threads.
  • Wheel adapters must be intended for race use.
  • Worn or loose parts such as axle nuts, spindles, kingpins, ball joints, etc. are not allowed.

BATTERIES

  1.  All racers are required to be self-starting and are required to have a battery capable of starting the engine.
  •  Batteries must be secured with metal tie downs and covered.
  •  Batteries inside the driver compartment must be in a battery box.

                                                                         

FUEL CELL MANDATORY

  1.  Must be securely mounted to the frame with bolts and/or steel straps.
  • All fuel cells must have foam baffles.
  • Acceptance of fuel cells can be withdrawn at anytime at the tech crew discretion due to damage in accident, etc.                            
  • No fuel cell can be vented into driver’s compartment.
  • Fuel cell cannot have any leakage.

       ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND COOLING SYSTEMS

  1. The charging system is required to be functional. (WOODS BUGGY CLASS ONLY)
  • Belts must be tight enough to operate charging and cooling systems.

     ROLL CAGES

  1. All vehicles must have the following:
  2.  Front and rear hoops
  3. Top connecting bars
  4. Down bracing
  5. At least 1 bar on each side to protect the occupant from side impacts
  6. Weld must be good quality and have good penetration
  7. No cracks in welds or tubing
